Details: In 2003, the Government of Canada passed Bill C-459 establishing a National Holocaust Memorial Day. Since then the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem has carried out the annual National Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony on behalf of the Government of Canada.
The keynote speaker at the ceremony will be the Honourable Harjit Singh Sajjan, Minister of National Defence, who will deliver an address on behalf of the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.
The Ceremony commemorates the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and pays tribute to the survivors who rebuilt their lives in Canada.?
Felicia Carmelly, Holocaust survivor, will share her first-hand experience in the Shoah.
Close to 700 guests attend the annual National Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony including Holocaust survivors and their families, cabinet ministers, members of both houses of the Parliament of Canada, justices of the Supreme Court of Canada, heads of diplomatic missions in Canada, including 200 students from schools across Canada and many other distinguished guests.
